The Restaurant at Newton Johnson enters an exciting new chapter under the direction of Alex and Ella Rykaart, the husband-and-wife team behind Rykaart’s Restaurant in Stellenbosch.
Set among the vineyards of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, overlooking Walker Bay, The Restaurant at Newton Johnson will continue the Rykaart’s philosophy of honest, seasonal cooking and warm, generous hospitality.
Chef Alex Rykaart’s food celebrates balance and restraint, drawing on classic technique while allowing exceptional ingredients to speak for themselves.
Guests can expect a small, seasonal à la carte menu of vibrant small plates, considered main courses, and understated indulgent desserts, all designed to complement the elegant, site-expressive wines of Newton Johnson Vineyards.
Following two successful years at Longridge Wine Estate, the Rykaart’s are now thrilled to begin this new chapter in partnership with the Newton Johnson family.

Dietary Requirements – Our menu caters to most dietary preferences, however we are unfortunately unable to accommodate vegan or dairy-free guests as butter and cream are integral to our cooking.
Booking for Children – Children are welcome, however, we do not offer a separate children’s menu. They are welcome to order off our normal menu.
Opening Hours – The Restaurant at Newton Johnson serves lunch Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00. Lunch reservations are welcome anytime between 12:00 and 14:00. The kitchen closes for all orders at 15:00. Please note that the restaurant closes at 17:00.
Corkage Policy – As The Restaurant at Newton Johnson is based on Newton Johnson Vineyards who produce a wide selection of wines, we have ‘no corkage’ policy at our restaurant.
Our Pet Policy – Pets are unfortunately not allowed at The Restaurant at Newton Johsnon.
