The Hemel-en-Aarde and Elgin valleys are admired for their buoyant, fresh and aromatic white wines. We take a more artful approach with this Sauvignon Blanc blend, aspiring to create a wine with more beauty than exuberance. The 6% blended oaked Semillon broadens this texture, combining a creamy sensation with the dryness and length of natural acidity.

Albariño grape has its origins on the wet and cool Atlantic north-west coast of Spain and Portugal, where monks are fabled to have brought it from the Rhine River in central Europe on their pilgrimages centuries before. Its native soil is of Granite origin, similar to ours, where it expresses subliminal definition, almost Riesling-like florality and complexity.

The vineyard lies directly opposite the Newton Johnson farm in the valley, a notably cooler slope with slower ripening. It produces wines with compact structure, cool fruit flavours and vibrant, lengthy acidity. For the Southend Chardonnay the oak is toned down to further define this classy parcel among the other elegant Chardonnays of our appellation.

Perfumed layers of red fruits; the warm, rich spice and woody notes mingle with earthy mushroom and dried flower characters. The generous and polished palate is gripped with fine, chalky tannins. Ripe raspberry fruit provides some flesh to the mid palate, with long savoury liquorice flavour in the finish.

The Newton Johnson Full Stop Rock wine is how we define this jagged landscape on the bottom slopes of Newton Johnson. Robust vines like Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, thrive in this type of rocky soil. We were encouraged to discover bright and invigorating wines with compact black fruit, spice, perfume, and sophisticated tannins.
